I only recently posted her senior pictures, but one's 18th birthday is a pretty big milestone. And milestones call for photos, right??

After a super quick little session in our Mimi's backyard, we headed off to meet a couple of Heather's friends for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. It's kind of become our birthday dinner go-to, and I can't say I'm too upset about it!

We decided it would be really fun to get all dressed up in pretty party dresses. Everyone looked lovely! A lot of people thought we were headed to Prom. It gave me a laugh because although Prom was just last weekend for these ladies, it was four years ago for me!!

So, there we have it! My baby sister is officially an adult! Though we honestly didn't always get along growing up, we've become pretty great friends and I wouldn't trade that for the world.

Well, this super cute family won that contest! We got together at Battery Park Marina in Sandusky this past Saturday and had a great time with their session!

Little Sadie kept us moving pretty quickly through the session, and she was so adorable! We even got to take a little time for playing on the playground. It was a pretty great way to end the day, in my opinion! I hope you guys had as much fun as I did!

]]>FHS Prom 2012http://jolynndemeterphotography.com/blog/2012/5/6/fhs-prom-2012.htmlJolynn DeMeter2012-05-06T08:36:22ZI had the pleasure of photographing my sister and some of her friends before Prom on Saturday. I feel like my own Prom was just yesterday! Anyways, I had a ton of fun photographing this awesome group! It was kind of fun, also, that I did three of the girls' Senior Portraits this year, including my sister. So, they already knew what to expect of me while I was taking pictures! Haha.

Everyone looked so beautiful! I love how Britany and Heather had the same dress, but styled it differently with different hair, shoes, and jewelry to make it unique to each of them!

All the girls had really cute shoes! I wanted to make sure we got a shot to show them off.

We had to get a couple of photos with their sunglasses and, of course, with the cool car!

I already heard from my sister that she had an awesome night at Prom and After Prom! I hope everyone else did, too.

I absolutely cannot believe she is about to graduate in just about one month! She waited til pretty much the last minute to get her photos done... But that's okay. I know there are at least a few more Seniors that still haven't gotten theirs yet, either!

Heather loves makeup and hair, and she did her own for her session. I think it looks fabulous!

We originally planned to start her session in Oberlin and then move to Sandy Ridge Park for some sunset photos, but then it got cloudy and seemed like it might rain. We decided to just stay in Oberlin for the entire session, and I think it was a great decision. Sometimes just going with the flow is the best plan. We found some great new spots for her photos and had a super fun time!

I love that last photo because it's exactly what I think of when I think of my sister. Laughing and always having fun with life.

In a Complete Portrait Session, you'll have time to wear about 5-6 outifits. I encourage you to bring that many! I love for you to able to showcase your awesome sense of fashion! Bring a mix of casual and dressy clothes to really add interest to your session.

]]>Session Swap! {Family Photography}http://jolynndemeterphotography.com/blog/2012/4/24/session-swap-family-photography.htmlJolynn DeMeter2012-04-25T03:05:21ZMy friend and fellow photog, Ashley, and I have been trying to get everyone's schedules to coordinate in order for us to do a session swap. Well, FINALLY we were all able to meet up on Monday! I am super happy that we did! Ashley took photos of Chris and me, while I took photos of her sweet little family. Despite the weather report that called for a cold, cloudy, rainy/snowy day, we decided to go ahead and plan to meet up anyways. We were blessed with lovely sunshiney skies, warmer temps than we expected, and a gentle breeze... Okay, I actually made the comment that I was waiting for the Wicked Witch to blow past so it may have been less of a gentle breeze and more of a twister force wind...! In any case, we had fun and we both got some nice photos out of it!

I'll share some images of myself and Chris later, but I'd love to share a few of my faves of Ashley's family!

]]>Teaching and Learninghttp://jolynndemeterphotography.com/blog/2012/4/21/teaching-and-learning.htmlJolynn DeMeter2012-04-22T01:26:28ZRecently, Chris has taken an interest in learning about photography. I am pretty psyched that he wants to learn what I do! So last night I explained some basics- aperture and shutter speed and how those work together, how to read the light meter in the camera, white balance, and ISO. I showed him how to adjust all of this on the camera he is going to use for learning. Well, explaining and listening are one way to learn, but even better is getting out and practicing! So today we set out to get in some good practice!

After a quick review on all the basics, he stuck the camera in manual and just dove right in to snapping photos! I was really impressed.

Here is a shot of me taken by Chris and processed by me. He's not much interested in learning about processing just yet if at all, he says. I don't mind! I think he did a fantastic job today!

Of course, I couldn't go without also snapping some photos myself! So I'll leave you with my favorite shot of Chris from the day. Love him!

Don't worry! I'm here to help! Check out these fantastic examples that hopefully help inspire you! These are designed to work for a family, but you could easily adapt them for a session of just your kiddos or an couples session, as well.

A quick tip: Try to pick a pallette of a few colors that 'go' together. You don't have to be 'matchy-matchy' to look awesome in your photos!
